Homemade vegan trail mix is a great alternative to store-bought trail mix because you can customize it to your liking. Make it with one or two of your favorite varieties of nuts, one or two varieties of seeds, dried fruit, and chocolate. This recipe is a fun, healthy, and portable snack that can be thrown together quickly and eaten with no regrets!

In the mix pictured here, you can see the addition of some semi-sweet vegan chocolate chip chunks. My kids love this sweet addition as it helps to cancel out the dry taste of some of the walnuts. You can also add raisins (also seen in the image) to your mix. Put it in a sealed container and take it with you on the go. The famous Dr. Esslstyn from the Engine 2 Diet always has a small bag of healthy nuts with him to make sure he staves off hunger, so you know it’s a good idea!

A Vegan Trail Mix Recipe That Will Keep You Fueled All Day

As you may know, there are several types of fat out there. Not all types of fat are bad. In fact, polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats are proven to help you lower your LDL “bad” cholesterol and lower blood pressure. Nuts are packed with fiber, protein, and lots of other vitamins and minerals that will not only keep you full but can also help to sustain your energy after a long day of work or fitness training.

Nuts are also a great source of folate, vitamin E, potassium, and magnesium. All of these essential vitamins and minerals are packed into your plant-based trail mix to make it one of your new favorite snacks!
