If you are like me, you LOVE waffles and syrup. All waffles, however, are not created equal. Many people think that waffles have to be made with eggs and dairy, but that is simply not the truth. Did you know that there are waffles out there that are gluten-free, vegan and just plain yummy!? You can of course make them at home from scratch, which is the best choice, but that takes time that we don’t always have on school days. It’s best to have to trusty backup reserves in the freezer for you to pop in the toaster and have a quick breakfast ready for the kids. Check out the ingredients on this box of Nature’s Choice waffles that I got from the store:

As you can see, they are VEGAN, which is a HUGE win. In addition to that, they contain non-GMO ingredients, which is super important. I am not saying that these are necessarily healthy food, but we are busy people with super fast-paced lives that need all the help we can get. If you are like I was when I was a kid and still eating EGGO waffles…it’s time to make the switch. The waffles featured here are pumpkin spice, but you can get any flavor you want. The waffle pictured as our featured image and below was a berry waffle, which goes really well with the Strawberry Sauce. Speaking of Strawberry Sauce…

I am happy to share this alternative, super-easy way to get your kids to eat some delicious organic fruit in the morning. My daughter is not a huge fan of maple syrup, so one day I decided to make her what I called “Strawberry Sauce” to see if she would be down with giving it a try. I knew she loved strawberries, so I figured I would give it a shot. Here’s how I made it:

Ingredients:

  • one bag of frozen, organic, strawberries
  • 1-2 cups of water
  • 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup (optional)

Method:

  1. pour half the bag or full bag of frozen, organic strawberries into a microwave-safe bowl
  2. heat the strawberries in the microwave for 1 minute or until soft (not necessarily warm, but soft)
  3. once done, place strawberries in your blender and mix them up until they become a thick liquid (like syrup, get it?)
  4. ENJOY! Pour it all over the waffles. Add banana if you’d like and cut it up to look like this:

The sauce was a hit and I made sure to make it a super special occasion by telling her that I would be happy to make her some strawberry sauce for the morning.
